The Pinole Valley baseball team won the TCAL championship at home against El Cerrito and could not be more excited! The previous times PV played El Cerrito the score had been very close, but not this time! The Spartans blew the Gauchos out of the water  14-2.

Fernando Duenas pitched a great game with multiple strikeouts. Fans cheered as the Spartans continued to hit well and make great defensive plays, including DeAndre Gaines’ sliding catch in center field and his three run homerun. Before everyone knew it, the Spartans were up by eight runs and only needed two more to end the game with the ten-run rule. And that is exactly what they did. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Caleb Castanchoa hit a walk-off grand slam to end the game.

Congratulations to the Pinole Valley baseball team on this tremendous TCAL victory. You all did great and it was well deserved!
