There are many things you realize about senior year after it’s too late. Knowing what you know now, you might have done things a little differently. So I talked to some seniors to find out what they wish they had known before senior year.

1. Start College Apps Early

Trying to balance school work while trying to do college applications at the last minute can be daunting. The longer you put off those essays and recommendation letters, the stress will build. So don’t wait until the last minute, start early.

2. Scholarship Applications Are Worth It

Applying for scholarships is definitely worth your time! The long requirements may discourage you, but it’s worth it because you never know what you will receive.

3. Rejection Does Not Define You

Many high school seniors wait anxiously to hear back from the school of their dreams. You’ve worked so hard throughout high school maintaining that perfect GPA just to find out that you didn’t get in. But not getting in does not mean that you’re not good enough… you’re perfect just the way you are!

4. Don’t Be Afraid To Ask For Help

Senior year can be stressful, whether it be a class you’re struggling to pass, college apps, or something else. But do not be afraid to ask for help always counselors to help you stay on track and tutoring.

5. Senioritis Is Real

Sometimes senioritis just hits you, and it hits you hard. You have no motivation to study and put very little effort into your assignments. Take time to relax, it isn’t the end of the world if you miss a day or two. Just don’t get too carried away. You definitely do not want to be too far behind.

6. Get Involved

So it’s your final year of high school and you’ve never been one to participate in school events. This is the year to do so! Join a club, go to sports games, join a sport, go to a school dance, participate in Spirit Week. It’s your senior year, so make the most of it!
