Boys’ Volleyball Moves to 7-0

Boys+Volleyball+Moves+to+7-0

After an astonishing three-set sweep boys’ volleyball advances to 7-0 in the league. Tonight’s game against the Vallejo Red Hawks was utterly one-sided until the third set. And with a score that went into the thirties, it is safe to say that it was a pretty exciting night for the team and the crowd. The boys and Coach Mel have high hopes and are aiming to place in league undefeated. They’ve been working hard at their craft and learning from their mistakes. Coach Mel says that “it was not just a normal win…they’ve been working on a couple of plays on offense and things on defense that they executed tonight.”

Next season while the team will be losing a lot of important seniors, stars are aligning for PV’s future team. Coach Mel believes “we have a really good JV team right now,” that she cant wait to see perform on varsity; and after asking her about specific players on JV she was excited to coach next year, her eager “All of them” really raises the hopes of our Spartan family. In fact, tonight Jezreel Butler, who you all may know as the freshman that does backflips, got pulled up from JV to play in tonight’s game. And after putting points on the board and contributing to tonight’s win in his first varsity showing maybe we should start getting to know him as the guy who’s really good at volleyball.

Jezreel wasn’t the only player that got a kill tonight. Jaheim Hill, a senior and middle blocker here at PV, was rackin’ ‘em up, finishing with a total of seven kills, two aces, and two solo blocks, contributing 11 points to tonight’s win. Alan Aguilar, also a senior and a defensive specialist, got four aces and played a significant role in tonights receiving game. With all these amazing players who in their right mind wouldn’t want to come to watch them play? I say it’s time we show some more support for boys’ volleyball because as principal Kibby would say, we’re on a roll.
