Spartan Art Stories #1

I’m Trinity, and I’m a 17-year-old high school senior living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Coming from such a culturally rich area, I’ve always been surrounded by various forms of art, and I have no doubt this has had a lasting effect on me. Not only have my surrounding consistently provided the means necessary for me to dip my toes in any new medium I’m interested in, it’s also acted as an ever-growing pool for inspiration. An artist without inspiration is no good to the world, so I thank the Bay Area for providing me everything I could ever need as an artist.

Despite always being interested in art, I wasn’t able to find my niche for a long time. I tried as many different mediums as possible, and I think it’s really widened my horizons and deepened my appreciation for art. It wasn’t until around my sophomore year of high school that I really started to find out what I’m genuinely passionate about, and that’s a three-way tie between photography, ceramics, and writing. Writing isn’t a visual art, but it is something that I feel enhances peoples’ understanding of the art, and what message the artist might have been trying to convey. In that sense, I think art and writing really go hand in hand.

All that being said, I’m very grateful that I’ve had art as something to fall back on no matter what, and I’m incredibly humbled to have the opportunity to share my passion with so many other people.
