VR Chat

VR Chat

Leo Chung, Staff Writer

VR Chat is a new early-access game out for Windows and for various VR Headsets such as the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. Unlike conventional games, the gameplay revolves around purely social interaction with other people. Instead of competing for a common goal, VR Chat has a more relaxed approach towards the multiplayer genre focusing on creating a social experience for everyone there.

The main attraction of this game is the customizability it offers. Players can choose from a massive amount of avatars and play in a massive amount of environments and worlds. You can play games like checkers, talk with other players, hang out, watch movies, draw, and more. This game offers you the freedom to express yourself through your avatar and through your voice. There is no objective or primary goal, making the game open-world and giving you the choice of what to do.

The experience is further enhanced when playing the game with a virtual reality headset. Your senses like your sight and hearing will be fully immersed, giving you the feeling that you are actually in the game. You can experience the world of fantasy right from your own room.

Players can even make their own environments and avatars by simply using the software development kit provided with the game. There are many easy tutorials online, teaching you how to create your own characters so people can see it in-game. There are thousands of creations already online, further adding to the roster of choices and customizability.

If you have the time and want to try a new social experience, I urge that you go download this game as it is FREE!
Note: The game currently is at its beta stage, so expect some bugs and frequent updates from the developers.
