Lady Spartans Roll Over Alhambra, 50-28

Lady Spartans dominate the boards in home gym route over Alhambra Hight.

Kicking off the season with a 3-0 start after Tuesday night’s expected victory against the Alhambra High School Bulldogs, our one and only Lady Spartans have gotten off to a great start. After scoring first in every quarter, the Lady Spartans dominated Alhambra the whole way through. In the first quarter, we kicked things off going 8-4 headed into the second quarter. During the second quarter, we put up a substantial 12 point lead that sent us 23-11 into the half. After the half, we opened up hot by putting up 15 points in the third quarter that sent us 38-19 into the fourth and final quarter. And in the final 8 minutes, after a well-played game of utter domination, we won 50-28.

Coach BJ said that he “liked the way we played as a whole tonight,” but players such as team leader Imani Johnson who was “really gettin’ in there and bangin’,” Deadriana Prim and her “scoring ability and ability to find the shooters,” and To’Shia Reynolds who was “diggin’ in defensively” all had great games. But it wasn’t only them: Michelle Gomez, Sophina O’Campo, Ashley Torres, and Faith Dumlao were all able to sink some in and contribute to our expected win last night.

However, Coach BJ believes that “the real test starts on Thursday when we go down to Stockton,” as they are “one of the best teams in the west coast and one of the best teams in the country.” All that being said, I think it’s safe to say that with a bright future ahead this young team of superstars is up for the challenge and is ready to rock and roll!
