Our childhood is coming to an end…
November 22, 2019
Another decade is coming to an end. In ten years our whole lives are going to change. We will be out of high school and we are going to be entering adulthood. We will most likely be in finishing college, getting married, having kids or probably be getting out of jail… just kidding. Let’s take a moment to take a recap of our childhood.
Let’s take time to appreciate the old Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. Our favorite shows like Hannah Montana, Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Suite Life on Deck, Wizards of Waverly Place, etc. They will be dearly missed. The old Spongebob, Dora the Explorer, iCarly, Victorious, etc. We cried a little typing these shows in. We will miss those shows and the good laughs they would give us but hey, Disney Plus and Netflix are bringing these shows back and we are all happy. Thank you Disney Plus and Netflix.
The trends from when we were younger will be missed as well. These include Rainbow Loom, Barbie, Heelys, Wii, DS consoles, and so much more. Also, the way we acted was much different from how kids these days do.
We will miss the simplicity. Nowadays kids care about what they wear, how much money they have and having expensive things. We will miss when we would actually communicate with each other face to face. No phones or anything. Playing on the playground, hanging on your closet racks, playing kick-ball, rolling on the grass, balancing the light switch, trying to see the fridge light turn off, etc. Kids nowadays don’t know the fear of wondering what will happen after you called 9-11 through your mother’s phone. Yes, we did some questionable things but they made our childhood fun.
We will also miss when school was just about learning. Now it is about passing. Every year school gets harder and stricter. We miss it when we used to have fun at school or when we looked forward to learning. Now we struggle in school. We will miss the old days.
These days, the music is also very different. The concepts and the messages that are conveyed are not how they used to be. Lately, songs don’t have such a simple message as they did in the past. For example, songs used to be about love or other topics. Now they are about more complex topics that are not as easy to understand through the lyrics. Also, it is hard to understand what the artist is saying because it just sounds like mumbling. I find this to be more common in rap and today’s R&B.
Our childhood was memorable. Even some of our teenage years. Like in 2016 when we were all scared of clowns. The dance challenges like “Juju on that beat.” Or what about the Mannequin challenge? The good old days! We will miss all these trends, dances, toys, music, etc. Now let’s say goodbye to our childhood and hello to a new adventure.
