English DJ Jax Jones has quickly made a name for himself on the mainstream music scene. In November 2018, he released his debut EP, Snacks, which features the radio hits,”You Don’t Know Me” with RAYE and “Breathe” with Ina Wroldson. Both songs debuted at #1 on the UK charts.

In early September, Jones reissued the EP as his debut studio album titled Snacks (Supersize). The 15-track record is a compilation of all his previously released singles in addition to six new songs, including the incredible lead single, “Jacques” with Tove Lo, a seductive electro house bop about a one-night stand. Electro house constitutes most of the album sound, making it the perfect party album, as it’s full of upbeat bops that make you want to get up and dance.

Jones has described his songs as “musical snacks”, hence the title, and every song has a corresponding grocery product design displayed on the cover. This is such a cute and fun concept, and in my opinion, makes his music even more appealing because presentation and marketing is very important

The album’s tracks are primarily sung by other artists, a common trend among DJs. In some cases, it creates a disconnect between the producer and their music, making it sound impersonal, but Jax Jones is an exception. While his vocals are almost entirely absent from the album, his personality shines through. Snacks (Supersize) is available across all online and streaming platforms.
