Queer singer-songwriter and visual artist Mood Killer released their debut EP, Liquify, in early July, and while it may only have six tracks, it certainly doesn’t fall short. Liquify is bold, provocative, and very satisfying to listen to.

The EP combines industrial electronic music with bubblegum pop to create a hybrid sound that is reflective of Mood Killer’s unique style and avant-garde aesthetic. It kinda sounds like how I imagine cotton candy-flavored gasoline would smell if that actually existed.

The strongest song on the tracklist is the second single, “Cam Boy”. It’s a somber track about not wanting someone to get too attached with Mood Killer treating a gentleman caller as if he were just another face on a screen. The video features them in a small room while a floating camera catches their every move.

With such an unforgettable sound and image, Mood Killer has definitely made their mark. Liquify is available now across all online and streaming platforms.
