I am pretty sure you guys have heard the news of what’s going on with our planet. It’s all true, climate change is real and we have 12 more years until something worse happens. The only world we got and we messed it up. Let’s talk about the horrible wildfires we have had in California, hurricane Harvey, the biggest hurricane recorded, people in Africa suffering from a drought, etc. What’s causing all this? Climate change is, it’s warming up the Earth causing all these terrible things to happen. This is all because of us. So many trees are getting cut down, for who knows what. Who will take up all this extra C02 now? There is so much trash in the oceans resulting in killing many animals, like turtles, birds, sharks, etc. Many animals are getting killed for no reason at all, so many animals are endangered, soon we will be too if we don’t make a change right now. How can we make that change you may ask? Well here are 5 easy, simple ways to help save our environment.  

1. Use metal straws instead of plastic straws!

Starbucks, McDonald’s, etc., are getting rid of plastic straws and replacing them with paper straws. Although the paper straws get all sogging and nasty it’s a better fit for our environment than the plastic straws. Many people are careless and throw/leave their plastic straws everywhere which later goes into the ocean. Many animals like turtles get them stuck in their nose or choke on them thinking the straw is food and later kills these poor animals. That doesn’t only happen to turtles but much marine wildlife too! If you think paper straws are so bad and wish there was something else to use there is! Metal straws are the best and 10x better than paper straws! They are reusable and they won’t get soggy! Amazon sells many metal straws! I also highly recommend Final Straw, it comes with a case, a cleaner and the metal straw itself! There are many colors and they work so well! Also if you’re a boba lover like I am, I know Boba Guys sells metal boba straws! Please help get rid of plastic straws!

2. Stop littering and pick up trash!

Many people are careless and leave their trash everywhere. All this trash goes to oceans, parks, etc. and end up killing much wildlife. So many animals choke or get caught in our trash. This has been one of the biggest problems we have had. There is so much trash roaming around freely. We don’t have enough room for trash so please throw away your trash! One way to help out is if you see trash on the floor or abandoned, pick it up and throw it away. It’s not hard to throw something away, no more excuses, get up and throw your trash away!

3. Get rid of plastic!

Plastic is so bad for the environment and people leave it everywhere. Plastic is so bad for the environment and is the cause of global warming. Plastic has toxic pollutants that damage the environment and cause land, water, and air pollution. It can take hundreds or even thousands of years for plastic to break down, so the damage to the environment is long-lasting. There is plastic everywhere making the damage worse. Replace plastic with cardboard! Instead of using plastic bags use reusable bags or cardboard bags. Use metal straws, use hydro-flask, etc. Plastic is replaceable. If we keep continuing using plastic and being careless with it, the damage won’t be reversed.

4. Take care of trees and animals!

Deforestation is the removal of a forest or stands of trees from land which is then converted to a non-forest use. So many trees have gotten cut down and many animals have lost their homes. About 3.5 billion to 7 billion trees get cut down each year. There is so much C02 in the air and cutting all these trees will not help us. We are destroying animals homes. Although there is nothing we can do to bring all those trees back, we can definitely act in favor of stopping the progression of deforestation. How can we do this? Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! Those are so important and can help out a lot! Plant a tree in your backyard or a nearby park, we need to take a stand now!

5. Spread the word!

It is important that people know what is going on! This is important and we need to save our environment! We need to know what’s causing all these natural disasters. We don’t want to have 12 more years on this planet, we want more! The more we talk about it, the more others want to help! If we do something now things would change!

We can make a difference. Doing all these 5 things could help so much! We need to make a change and save the environment!
