WE Science: Upcoming Jan-Feb Outreaches
January 24th (@ Ellerhorst) & February 7th (@ Tara Hills), 6:00PM-7:30PM
January 13, 2018
Following a successful first outreach of the 2017-2018 school year, PVHS’s WE Science club is proud to announce our next two outreaches!
For those of you unfamiliar with WE Science’s outreach program, it’s an opportunity for our club to give back to the community. During outreaches, club members head to a local elementary school, where they break up into individual groups. After setting up, the doors open and each group presents a cool experiment to guests, explaining both the experiment process and the underlying science that makes it work.
Planning is already underway for the next two outreaches, which have had their event details confirmed. The first will take place at Ellerhorst on January 24th, with the second following shortly after on February 7th at Tara Hills. Both outreaches are expected to run from 6:00 to 7:30 after school. Due to the close proximity of these outreaches, we’ll be presenting the same experiments at both. So don’t worry if you can’t make one; you’ll have a second chance to see the experiments. I highly recommend stopping by for at least one; it’s great fun for everyone involved!
And if you’re interested in joining WE Science yourself, stop by Mr. Heyward’s (Rm. 16) shortly after school on Fridays. We have meetings almost every week, and new club members are always a pleasure to have. The club also offers Service Learning opportunities. Want to get involved in Pi or MESA? PVHS’s involvement in those organizations is run through WE Science; ask president Tristan Kelly for more details. Definitely consider joining; the club really is a great way to give back to your community.
